Phil Longorio Phil Longorio - CEO & President

Phil Longorio is a 40 year veteran of the oil and gas service industry, and has held various executive management positions with both major and independent oil service companies. Phil joins Scientific Drilling after a six year tenure as the Senior Vice President for TETRA Technologies, Inc. where he was responsible for their Energy Services and Chemicals divisions.

Prior to joining TETRA, Phil served as President and Chief Executive Officer of WellDynamics B.V., a joint venture between Halliburton Energy Services and Shell Technology Ventures providing intelligent well technology. From December 1999 through February 2004, he served as Vice President of Halliburton Energy Services responsible for Sperry Sun Drilling Services, following a variety of executive management roles within the Halliburton enterprise. His career started as a Wireline Logging Engineer for Gearhart Industries, which was acquired by Halliburton in 1988.

Phil is a United States Air Force veteran and active member in the Houston Oil & Gas community as a member of the SPE and SPWLA.

Dana Armstrong Dana Armstrong - SVP & Chief Financial Officer

Dana Armstrong is a financial executive with over 20 years of proven experience and has been nominated for several leadership awards for her superior results in collaboration and execution throughout her tenure.

Prior to SDI, Dana was employed at Ion Geophysical Corporation since 2007, most recently serving as VP & Global Treasurer where she led the international treasury and corporate finance strategy for the $500 million company. From 1998 until 2007, Dana was employed with Thermo Fisher Scientific, holding a variety of key senior financial positions.

Dana has a BBA in Accounting, and MBA in Finance both from University of Houston C.T. Bauer College of Business.

Chip Abrant Chip Abrant - SVP of Global Operations & Sales

Chip Abrant joined Scientific Drilling International in 2011 as the Manager of Technical Services focusing on expanding the scope and market penetration of their MagTraC MWD Ranging product line. He then held several positions including Director of Technical Services, Senior Vice President of Administration, and most recently as Senior Vice President – Drilling Products and Services.

Chip has over 32 years of extensive O&G experience, which includes both engineering and leadership roles spanning from the operator to service sector side of the industry. Prior to joining Scientific Drilling, Chip was a co-founder and the VP of Operations of a small E&P company – an early player in the Eagle Ford shale (South Texas). He also worked for Weatherford as the U.S. General Manager of Underbalanced Drilling & Testing, and was then promoted as the Global Business Unit Manager for Controlled Pressure Drilling & Testing, where he had P&L responsibility, generating approximately $400MM per year revenue for the respective business unit. Earlier in his career, Chip served in both technical and management capacity for several successful directional drilling companies, where he supported an active role throughout the entire commercialization process, and took innovative directional drilling technologies to market.

Chip is a member of major Oil & Gas organizations SPE, AADE and is a graduate of the Colorado School of Mines with a degree in Geological Engineering.

Doug McGregor Doug McGregor - SVP of Measurements

Doug McGregor previously served as Global Asset Manager at Weatherford International, Inc. where he was responsible for high value surface and downhole assets valued at $1.5 billion.

Prior to his work with Weatherford International Inc., he served as Senior Vice President at Tesco Corporation, focusing on enhancing their international service offering and ensuring the seamless transition of two acquisitions. Doug started his career with Sperry Sun Drilling Services, holding multiple roles throughout the US and Middle East, including Global MWD/LWD Operations Manager, where he was responsible for profit and loss, capital equipment levels, R&D prioritization, staff development, and strategic planning.

Doug has a B.S. in Petroleum Engineering from Texas A&M University, and a B.A in Political Science from the University of Texas.

Dan Carter Dan Carter - SVP & General Counsel

Dan Carter joined Scientific Drilling International in May 2011 as General Counsel and Secretary. During his time at Scientific Drilling, Dan’s scope and duties have changed as the needs and wants of Scientific Drilling have changed.

Dan has more than 35 years of experience in the energy sector progressing through engineering and legal roles while on the E&P side to legal leadership roles in the service sector. Immediately prior to joining Scientific Drilling, Dan served as SVP, General Counsel, and Chief Administrative Officer of Global Energy Services - a Lime Rock Partners’ company consisting of several entities engaged in the manufacture of innovative well service systems and mud pumping solutions and some of the industry’s first walking drilling rigs.

After graduating from college, Dan began his career at Transco Exploration & Production as a Drilling Engineer before moving on to its pipeline affiliates where he served in both technical and legal roles. Beginning in 1998, Dan spent more than 10 years with NATCO Group in the most senior legal and management roles; during his time at NATCO, he led its initial public offering, energetic merger and acquisition activities, and placement of a $100 million senior credit facility.

Dan is a graduate of Louisiana Tech University with degrees in Chemical Engineering and Political Science; he earned his Doctor of Jurisprudence from South Texas College of Law. He is a member of several legal and energy-related professional organizations.

Eric Beylier Eric Beylier - SVP & Chief Procurement Officer

Eric Beylier previously served as CPO and Head of Global Supply Chain and Procurement at TETRA Technologies, Inc. where he designed and built a brand new supply chain and procurement function and organization to match global best practices.

Prior to his work with TETRA, he started two companies in San Francisco, first as a co-founder of a software company, focused on the $3 trillion construction market supply chain, and secondly as founder and CEO of a consulting company in San Francisco, where he led multi-billion dollar supply chain and procurement projects for Chevron, the Gap Inc. and HP. He started his career as a Sales Engineer for a global specialty chemical company based in Europe, and developed advanced strategic sourcing and category management expertise at A.T. Kearney.

Eric has a M.S. in Chemical Manufacturing from Polytechnic ESCOM in Paris, France, with a specialization in material science from M.I.T. in Boston, USA. He also holds a MBA from the Anderson School at U.C.L.A.

Rob McKee Rob McKee - SVP of Manufacturing & Product Support

Rob McKee is the Sr. Vice President, Manufacturing and Product Support for Scientific Drilling International, a position he has held since May of 2015. In this role, Rob is responsible for the manufacturing and product quality associated with all SDI product lines, including Sustaining and Reliability engineering within the current form, fit and function of SDI’s product portfolio. He has been with Scientific Drilling International since early 2011, where he started as Sr. Vice President of the Measurements Division.

Rob has a very diverse background in manufacturing and reliability engineering, spending the first eight years of his career at Texas Instruments as a Reliability Engineer before being recruited to work on NASA’s International Space Station program, as a part of their Systems Engineering Simulation (SES) team at Johnson Space Center.

From 2004 to 2011, he held both domestic and international management positions for Enventure Global Technology, where he served as the Director of Engineering and Technology, running both new product development and Sustaining Engineering, General Manager of the Global Supply Chain and General Manager of the Middle East Business Unit.

Rob earned a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the Colorado School of Mines, with continuing education in Management and Communications at Rice University.

Gerald Heisig Gerald Heisig - SVP of Research & Technology Development

Gerald Heisig joined Scientific Drilling International in 2011 and is responsible for the development and enhancement of SDI’s tool and service portfolio at SDI’s three technology centers in Paso Robles (California), Houston (Texas) and Celle (Germany).

He has more than 25 years of experience in the drilling industry with various positions in Product Line Management and Operations Support. Prior to joining SDI, Gerald worked for Baker Hughes for 18 years in Germany, the US and in Malaysia. He led the development and commercialization of an industry-leading downhole drilling dynamics data acquisition and processing tool, which has provided new insights into the downhole drilling environment and became the key component of a true real-time drilling optimization service. He has authored or co-authored about 20 papers mostly on drilling dynamics and mechanics as well as on drilling optimization. He also holds several patents on drilling-related technologies and concepts.

Gerald holds a Diploma and a PhD degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Technical University in Braunschweig, Germany. His thesis on the modeling of the dynamic and static behavior of BHAs provided the foundation for today’s industry-leading BHA analysis and simulation programs.

David Cotten David Cotten - VP of Western Hemisphere Operations

David Cotten joined Scientific Drilling International in 2000 as a directional driller in the Houston District. After working on directional and horizontal drilling projects, including two years on a high-temperature slimhole horizontal reentry project in South Texas, he moved into a field testing role with SDI’s initial rotary steerable effort.

After completing 49 runs, David assumed the role of District Manager for the Permian, San Juan and Fort Worth Basins, based in Midland. After returning to Houston, he was promoted to Southern U.S. Region Manager and then Vice President – Western Hemisphere Sales and Operations.

David has over 35 years of energy service experience and is a graduate of Southwestern University in Lafayette and holds a MBA from Tulane University in New Orleans.

Mike Shewan Mike Shewan - VP of Eastern Hemisphere Sales & Operations

Mike Shewan joined Scientific Drilling International in 2014 as Region Director for Middle East, Europe, Russia and Africa, in 2015 he took over a Vice President of Sales and Operation, Eastern Hemisphere.

Mike has over 20 years of oilfield experience which include operational and management roles in different locations in the Eastern Hemisphere. Prior to joining Scientific Drilling International he worked for Sperry Drilling / Halliburton as Country manager and latterly Region Manager for Eurasia.

Mike is a member of the SPE and studied Electrical and Electronic Engineering at University of Highlands & Islands, Inverness.

Michael Leahy Michael Leahy - Director of Administration & Finance (Eastern Hemisphere)

Mike Leahy joined Scientific Drilling in 2006 as Accounting Manager responsible for ensuring financial reporting and taxation compliance for the EMEA region. Now in the position of Director, Administration & Finance he leads Finance, HR, Legal, IT and Training for the Eastern Hemisphere.

With over 30 years’ experience in UK and International statutory and operational financial reporting, taxation and treasury; Mike completed his accountancy training with Total in Aberdeen and London and has gone on to hold senior financial leadership roles including, within the O&G industry, Finance Director at Neyrfor-Weir and West Africa Controller at Weatherford.

Mike is an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants and a graduate of Strathclyde University with a degree in Mathematics.
