SDI Opens New Northeast Asia Facility

HOUSTON, TX, May 28, 2013 – Scientific Drilling International (SDI) recently hosted a grand opening celebration for its new Northeast Asia facility in Manila, the Philippines.

Over fifty guests from companies, both local and abroad, participated in an afternoon of networking, technology presentations, tours, and catered local appetizers. The feedback was overwhelmingly positive, and the investment by SDI into the region and commitment to the geothermal, and oil and gas industries did not go unnoticed.

“This investment is proof that SDI is fully committed to the area and providing a thorough and complete service offering,” stated Scott Watson, Executive Vice President of Operations. “We are here to support our clients and partners as well as expand our business portfolio.”

Informal tours revolved around the technical showcase, which took place in the greater shop area. Current and new technologies were highlighted with impressive technical displays set up around the facility. All of SDI’s technologies were showcased, including a full MWD kit, EM-MWD, RigGRID™, three-point back off, motor cut-away, a new wireline truck, as well as AFTAT and multi-finger caliper tools.

The Manila facility is SDI’s Northeast Asia hub as it manages operations for the Philippines, Japan, China and Papua New Guinea. It is a fully operational building with offices, a break-out machine and calibration stand.
