Phil Longorio Phil Longorio - CEO & President

Phil Longorio is a 40 year veteran of the oil and gas service industry, and has held various executive management positions with both major and independent oil service companies. Phil joins Scientific Drilling after a six year tenure as the Senior Vice President for TETRA Technologies, Inc. where he was responsible for their Energy Services and Chemicals divisions.

Prior to joining TETRA, Phil served as President and Chief Executive Officer of WellDynamics B.V., a joint venture between Halliburton Energy Services and Shell Technology Ventures providing intelligent well technology. From December 1999 through February 2004, he served as Vice President of Halliburton Energy Services responsible for Sperry Sun Drilling Services, following a variety of executive management roles within the Halliburton enterprise. His career started as a Wireline Logging Engineer for Gearhart Industries, which was acquired by Halliburton in 1988.

Phil is a United States Air Force veteran and active member in the Houston Oil & Gas community as a member of the SPE and SPWLA.

Dana Armstrong Dana Armstrong - SVP & Chief Financial Officer

Dana Armstrong is a financial executive with over 25 years of experience having held various financial leadership roles in multinational companies within both the energy and biotechnology industries.

Prior to joining Scientific Drilling International in 2015, Dana was employed at Ion Geophysical Corporation starting in 2007, most recently serving as VP & Global Treasurer where she led the international treasury and corporate finance strategy for the company. From 1998 until 2007, Dana was employed with Thermo Fisher Scientific, holding a variety of key senior financial leadership positions.

Dana has a BBA in Accounting, and an MBA in Finance both from University of Houston C.T. Bauer College of Business, and is a licensed CPA.

Doug McGregor Doug McGregor - SVP of Drilling & Measurements

Doug McGregor previously served as Global Asset Manager at Weatherford International, Inc. where he was responsible for high value surface and downhole assets valued at $1.5 billion.

Prior to his work with Weatherford International Inc., he served as Senior Vice President at Tesco Corporation, focusing on enhancing their international service offering and ensuring the seamless transition of two acquisitions. Doug started his career with Sperry Sun Drilling Services, holding multiple roles throughout the US and Middle East, including Global MWD/LWD Operations Manager, where he was responsible for profit and loss, capital equipment levels, R&D prioritization, staff development, and strategic planning.

Doug has a B.S. in Petroleum Engineering from Texas A&M University, and a B.A in Political Science from the University of Texas.

Dan Carter Dan Carter - SVP & General Counsel

Dan Carter joined Scientific Drilling International in May 2011 as General Counsel and Secretary. During his time at Scientific Drilling, Dan’s scope and duties have changed as the needs and wants of Scientific Drilling have changed.

Dan has more than 35 years of experience in the energy sector progressing through engineering and legal roles while on the E&P side to legal leadership roles in the service sector. Immediately prior to joining Scientific Drilling, Dan served as SVP, General Counsel, and Chief Administrative Officer of Global Energy Services - a Lime Rock Partners’ company consisting of several entities engaged in the manufacture of innovative well service systems and mud pumping solutions and some of the industry’s first walking drilling rigs.

After graduating from college, Dan began his career at Transco Exploration & Production as a Drilling Engineer before moving on to its pipeline affiliates where he served in both technical and legal roles. Beginning in 1998, Dan spent more than 10 years with NATCO Group in the most senior legal and management roles; during his time at NATCO, he led its initial public offering, energetic merger and acquisition activities, and placement of a $100 million senior credit facility.

Dan is a graduate of Louisiana Tech University with degrees in Chemical Engineering and Political Science; he earned his Doctor of Jurisprudence from South Texas College of Law. He is a member of several legal and energy-related professional organizations.

Gerald Heisig Gerald Heisig - SVP of Research & Technology Development

Gerald Heisig joined Scientific Drilling International in 2011 and is responsible for the development and enhancement of SDI’s tool and service portfolio at SDI’s three technology centers in Paso Robles (California), Houston (Texas) and Celle (Germany).

He has more than 25 years of experience in the drilling industry with various positions in Product Line Management and Operations Support. Prior to joining SDI, Gerald worked for Baker Hughes for 18 years in Germany, the US and in Malaysia. He led the development and commercialization of an industry-leading downhole drilling dynamics data acquisition and processing tool, which has provided new insights into the downhole drilling environment and became the key component of a true real-time drilling optimization service. He has authored or co-authored about 20 papers mostly on drilling dynamics and mechanics as well as on drilling optimization. He also holds several patents on drilling-related technologies and concepts.

Gerald holds a Diploma and a PhD degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Technical University in Braunschweig, Germany. His thesis on the modeling of the dynamic and static behavior of BHAs provided the foundation for today’s industry-leading BHA analysis and simulation programs.

Daryl Ramnarace Daryl Ramnarace - VP of Business Development & Administration

Daryl Ramnarace joined Scientific Drilling in 2014 as Training Manager responsible for developing and delivering the people strategy that complimented the enterprise growth strategy focused on People, Technology & Systems, and Process. Now in the position of Vice President, Business Development & Administration, he is responsible for Global Sales & Marketing, HR & Payroll, IT, SAP Business Systems and Data Analytics.

With over 29 years of experience in Oil and Gas industry, he is focused on creating an environment that fosters marketplace growth and differentiation based on service quality and service delivery. Daryl spent his early years with Schlumberger, starting in the field working on drilling and measurements jobs globally and then transitioning to office-based roles in Operations, Sales, and HR. From there, he went to National Oilwell Varco to gain manufacturing and product line experience before joining Scientific Drilling.

With the primary focus of creating an environment to make people successful, Daryl’s mission is to increase the company’s productivity by designing and leading changes that are positive for the workforce and influencing profitable growth.

Mark Norris Mark Norris - VP of Manufacturing & Product Support

Mark Norris is Scientific Drilling International’s Vice President of Manufacturing and Product Support, a position he assumed in April 2019.

Mark joined SDI in 2005 as an MWD/LWD Engineer in the Rocky Mountain Region, progressing through several operations support and leadership positions to eventually lead the Measurements Product Line as its Director before assuming his current role. With a wealth of leadership experience, he is a mature mentor that focuses on breaking down barriers, empowering short-term objectives without losing sight of long-term value, and truly cares for those whom he serves.

In his current position, Mark is responsible for Purchasing and Procurement, Strategic Sourcing, and Manufacturing / Repair for the entire Scientific Drilling fleet worldwide. Mark is a veteran of the US Armed Forces, studied Mining Engineering, received a BS in Information Technology and earned an MBA.

Wes Shedd Wes Shedd - VP Western Hemisphere Operations & Sales

Wes Shedd is a graduate of Mississippi State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering. Wes joined Scientific Drilling International in 2002 as a field engineer in the Gulf of Mexico. He progressed through a number of domestic assignments throughout operations and sales. He has served as a technical coordinator for several major oil companies based in Houston Texas.

In 2007 as the US Land market was evolving, Wes led the charge for the turnaround and startup of several key markets in both the Barnett Shale of North Texas and the Eagleford Shale in South Texas. Prior to being appointed VP of WH Operations and Sales in 2019, he was managing the Gulf Coast region with several dynamic markets including Onshore Shale Basins, Offshore GoM and Remote Directional Drilling.

Wes resides in Montgomery, Texas with his wife and family and is an avid youth sports promoter in the region.

Mike Shewan Mike Shewan - VP of Eastern Hemisphere Sales & Operations

Mike Shewan joined Scientific Drilling International in 2014 as Region Director for Middle East, Europe, Russia and Africa, in 2015 he took over a Vice President of Sales and Operation, Eastern Hemisphere.

Mike has over 20 years of oilfield experience which include operational and management roles in different locations in the Eastern Hemisphere. Prior to joining Scientific Drilling International he worked for Sperry Drilling / Halliburton as Country manager and latterly Region Manager for Eurasia.

Mike is a member of the SPE and studied Electrical and Electronic Engineering at University of Highlands & Islands, Inverness.

Michael Leahy Michael Leahy - Director of Administration & Finance (Eastern Hemisphere)

Mike Leahy joined Scientific Drilling in 2006 as Accounting Manager responsible for ensuring financial reporting and taxation compliance for the EMEA region. Now in the position of Director, Administration & Finance he leads Finance, HR, Legal, IT and Training for the Eastern Hemisphere.

With over 30 years’ experience in UK and International statutory and operational financial reporting, taxation and treasury; Mike completed his accountancy training with Total in Aberdeen and London and has gone on to hold senior financial leadership roles including, within the O&G industry, Finance Director at Neyrfor-Weir and West Africa Controller at Weatherford.

Mike is an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants and a graduate of Strathclyde University with a degree in Mathematics.

Rod Brown Rod Brown - Director QHSE & Training

Rod Brown joined Scientific Drilling in 2014 as Director Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) responsible for policy, systems, and processes focused on incident prevention. Rod has 30 years of HSE experience, the last 14 years of which, are in the oil and gas industry.
Recently promoted to Director Quality, HSE, and Training, Rod is now accountable for developing and implementing strategies that assure business efficiency, compliance with international quality standards, and employee development (knowledge, skills, and competencies).
Rod has a B.S. in Business from the University of Arizona and spent +20 years in the United States Army as a helicopter pilot, instructor, and aviation safety officer.
