Scientific Drilling’s resistivity transmission tools deliver the ultimate performance required for geosteering and formation correlation applications.
WAVE PROPAGATION RESISTIVITY (WPR)
When geosteering or logging programs require a deeper depth of investigation and improved accuracy, the WPR utilizes a fully compensated design. For instance, with dual frequency (400 kHz and 2 MHz) and dual spacing, the WPR outputs eight independent resistivity measurements. The symmetrical design and compensated transmitter configuration improve the accuracy of the measurement. WPR provides real-time borehole compensation while eliminating thermal drift.
Scientific Drilling’s LWD technical experts perform in-house pre-well modeling to support geosteering suitability. The WPR is ideal for implementing a proactive geosteering program in wells. Most importantly, where gamma ray contrast is not significant enough to steer, staying in the zone is critical to the well’s success.
DELIVERING THE ULTIMATE VALUE
/ Provides 8 resistivity curves with varying depths of investigation
/ Works in both oil-based and water-based mud systems
/ Integrated with real-time functionality for both Scientific MP and EM MWD
/High-resolution data stored in memory can be used to analyze zones where MWD was not transmitting data
/ Measuring only 10’ in length, bit-to-sensor distances can be optimized for multiple LWD logging sensors
PROPAGATION RESISTIVITY TOOL (PRT)
Scientific Drilling’s Propagation Resistivity Tool (PRT) provides a sonde-based tool option for resistivity well logging and geosteering. Its single frequency (2 MHz) and dual spacing design (23” and 33”) outputs a total of 4 independent resistivity measurements. The PRT probe is interchangeable with all four collar sizes, reducing the number of tools needed on location. Above all, its unique design and solid reliability prove that resistivity logging can be a low-cost/low-risk venture from surface to total depth.
